Our ‘Fast Track’ service is available to provide same day appointment for post-surgical patients and upon a doctor’s request. Typically, we schedule your initial appointment within a week’s time.
You need to bring some form of identification typically driver’s license, your insurance information, updated physical therapy prescription, list of your current medications and completed paper work (you can download from the home page of the website).
On your initial visit, make sure you will be in the office 15-20 minutes prior to your scheduled time in order to have enough time to complete the paper work. You may also download the same from the ‘New Patient’s Info’ link at the home page of this site. For subsequent visits you are expected to be on time or 5 minutes prior to your appointment as this is a time based service.
We encourage our patients to wear loose fitting clothes for the initial visit to expose the treatment area for evaluation. You can ask your physical therapist about the same for the subsequent visits.
Your first visit with your physical therapist involves talking about your injury or history of symptom occurrence and planning a treatment strategy for you. This includes,
a. Questions regarding your present condition and health history.
b. A thorough physical therapy assessment which may and not limited to pain assessment, strength, range-of-motion, neurological and cardiovascular assessment.
c. Based on this, the physical therapist will discuss the appropriate treatment program and set realistic goals with you.
Your initial visit is one-on-one with your physical therapist for an hour and all subsequent visits would ideally last from 45 minutes to an hour depending on various factors.

Unlike most clinics, where you get treated by a different therapist each visit, you will be seen by the same therapist throughout your sessions at PTPC. For us it is significant to develop a one-on-one relationship with you and to ensure the continuity of care.
Often times, pain is the driving force that brings you for physical therapy and therefore, the primary objective of your care is pain relief. Your physical therapist will accomplish this with various hands-on- techniques, through modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation and/or heat or cold therapy. Our physical therapists utilize directional preference exercises to relieve pain. Exercises are not only designed for pain relief but also to recover range of motion, strength and endurance.
That being said, in some cases like rehabilitation following a Total Knee Replacement or working on shoulder range of motion in a frozen shoulder may be painful. It is of utmost important that you communicate well regarding the intensity, frequency, and duration of pain to your physical therapist. Without this, it is impossible for the clinician to adjust your treatment plan.
It is crucial that you follow up with your physical therapist’s instructions on home exercise programs. In order to have the time you spend worthwhile, you need to follow his/her instructions on home exercise programs and postural modification at work, at home, and in recreational activities. ‘Whatever you do for yourself is going to stay with you”, as physical therapy is a very active treatment.
Flare-ups are not uncommon. If you have a flare-up of symptoms – stop doing the exercises and give us a call.
Pain is not the factor that determines your discharge from the physical therapy treatment program. Always discuss discharge plans with your physical therapist as pain is not the factor determines your discharge at PTPC. While working on pain relief the focus is also on prevention and maximizing performance whether you are an athlete or a home maker. Always follow your physical therapist’s tips on self-management and prevention, so you can take control of your symptoms or condition.
Last but not the least we recommend you to share your experience at PTPC not only to your friends, relatives, colleagues but also to your referring doctor and like us on social media like Facebook, Google+, Linkedin, twitter etc.
